We have many beautiful cats of all ages and backgrounds waiting for a home of their very own. Can you find room for one in your home? |
We are a small charity based in the Reading, Maidenhead and Henley on Thames areas. We aim to rehome our cats and kittens within approximately a 20 mile radius of Henley. |
Kittens (Please read our article : Adopting Kittens)
We do not normally expect to have kittens for rehoming in the winter as few are born at this time of the year. If you are looking for kittens please ring and we will let you know if we happen to have any looking for new homes. |

We have a lot of cats in our care at the moment which are not yet ready to be rehomed. Below are listed some of the cats which are now ready for rehoming. If you do not see what you are looking for please phone us as the situation is always changing as more cats are taken into care.
Maisey and Marley - were found abandoned outside a veterinary surgery. Maisey is a tortoiseshell cat, about 3 years old while Marley, her daughter is a ginger and white female, about 1 year old. They are friendly girls who need a home together, preferably a fairly quiet home without young children.
Molly and her kitten - are looking for a home together. Molly is all black, about 2 to 3 years old and came to us as a pregnant stray. All of her kittens apart from a black female have been rehomed. Molly has been spayed and is ready for a new home with her daughter. Wally - is a black and white male cat, 3 years old, and very friendly. Following the death of his owner Wally spent some time in a cattery before coming to TVAW. At some point, either as a result of overfeeding by his owner, or because of being confined, Wally has become very overweight. He is not going to shed his extra pounds quickly, especially while he's confined in one of our cathouses but if you can see past the fat there's a lovely cat in there. A sensible diet and exercise will help him to regain his figure! Marty and Gizzy - are a lovely pair of 7 year old cats. Marty is a large ginger and white male while Gizzy is a rather more petite tabby. They have come from a good home, where they have been well cared for, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and have only been given up for adoption very reluctantly.
Sophie - TVAW was contacted by Thames Valley Police shortly before Christmas. Sophie's owner had died suddenly and poor Sophie had been found at the house. She is a beautiful longhaired cat, cream with touches of ginger, with bright blue eyes, (but not deaf). Although Sophie is 13 years old she is in very good health, is very friendly and loves being groomed. She is most definitely a lap cat and has probably spent most, if not all, of her life as an indoor cat. She is a bit of a pampered puss and craves human company. In view of her age Sophie will be rehomed under the "Golden Oldie" scheme which means that the charity will help with any reasonable future veterinary costs.
Maisie - is 18 months old, neutered and microchipped. She is very friendly and used to a busy home with small children. Maisie is still with her owner who is looking for a new home for her. Unfortunately Maisie is attracted across a busy road near her home by the prospect of hunting in the field opposite. She therefore needs a home away from traffic.
Rupert - is a black cat who came to us as a stray. He has been tested for FeLV/FIV and neutered. Rupert probably spent a long time roaming and but he's really happy now that he has somewhere warm to sleep and plenty to eat.
Tabatha and Polly - are mother and daughter. They came into our care both heavily pregnant and gave birth within a few days of each other. Their kittens have now all been rehomed and Tabatha and Polly have been spayed. All they need now is a home for themselves. They are lovely, friendly cats but would probably appreciate a home without young children.
Charlie and Sooty - are a pair of cats who would like a home together. Charlie is a 4 year old female tortoiseshell cat and Sooty is a 1 year old black and white female. Charlie was very frightened when she first arrived but has settled down now and is very friendly. Sooty is rather more confident and very affectionate.
Sparky & Pixie - are looking for a home together. Sparky is a big, cuddly black and white boy, 8 years old while Pixie is much smaller, tortoiseshell and 5 years old. They were very frightened when they first arrived but are settling down well. They probably need a home without children or other animals.
Angel -
is a 3 year old female cat, mainly white with tortie markings. When Angel first arrived she was very frightened of women but she seems to have overcome this now and is a lovely, friendly cat. However, she definitely dislikes other cats so needs to be the only cat in the household.

Feral cats - we sometimes have feral cats which need homes at smallholdings, stables etc. They will undertake rodent control duties in return for having somewhere warm to sleep and two good meals a day. More on Feral Cats These are a few of the cats in our care at the moment. If you don't see what you are looking for please give us a ring on either 01494 484527 or 01189 721 871. |
Where are the cats? We have 26 cat houses with 15 of our members mainly within the Reading and Henley on Thames areas, with accommodation for up to 50 cats and kittens. |
Will the cats be spayed or neutered? Yes, all are spayed or neutered before rehoming. |
Do I have to make a donation if I offer a home to a cat? Yes, but it is usually left to you to decide how much to give. However, we depend on fundraising to pay for food, heating, spaying/neutering and veterinary treatment so we are very grateful for all donations. |
Please contact Monica on 01494 484527 or Ann on 01189 721871 for further information. |
